Growing up, no one in my family had gone to college. When it came time for me to think about higher education, my mom and I were like the blind leading the blind. We didn’t know where to start, what questions to ask, or how to navigate a system that felt overwhelming and, at times, out of reach.
That early experience shaped me as an educator — and later, as the founder of Projects With a Purpose. I know firsthand what it feels like to want more for your kids, but not know how to get there. That’s why this work isn’t just professional for me — it’s deeply personal.
I’ve been teaching since 1996, working across grades K–12. Over nearly three decades, I’ve earned my Master’s in Educational Technology, my Administrative Credential, and a Career & Technical Education Credential. I’ve served as a Teacher on Special Assignment for Technology, managing a $7 million federal grant for VAPA programs.
Three years ago, when I thought about retirement, I realized I wasn’t ready to step away from helping students. Instead, I founded Projects With a Purpose to guide families through the very challenges I once faced.
I started with my daughter, using LLMs, AI, and social media branding to highlight her strengths. She was recruited with a full-ride scholarship. Soon after, I helped my nephew — and within three days of strategic branding and outreach, he had multiple Division I offers, including Carnegie Mellon, and signed with a full-ride for cross country.
By 2025, I had supported five students — three athletes and two non-athletes — saving their families hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition.
