Welcome to Projects With a Purpose

This website is devoted to the development of the book Projects With a Purpose. The book seeks to help people steward their resources, develop a consistent planning method, and subsequently build healthier projects and ministries in Churches and Christian organizations for the Glory of God.
Churches and Christian organizations are filled with projects. Some people call them ministries, others call them plans, missions, or tasks. What ever the term of choice, the desired outcome is still the same. People want to organize their thoughts and plans, and steward their resources and talents to the best of their ability.
Projects With a Purpose seeks to help apply a method of planning and thinking around these ministries and projects in Churches and Christian organizations, and in doing so hope to build effective and impactful ministries that bring GLORY TO GOD.
God is passionate about His own glory and He is also passionate about the stewardship of the gifts and resources He has given the Church. By writing Projects With a Purpose I am hoping to encourage Christians to build this same passion around the stewardship of their gifts and think hard about the way that they approach, build, and execute ministries in the church. In the end I pray that Projects With a Purpose will challenge people to launch healthier projects and build healthier ministries passionate about bringing GLORY TO GOD.

The Purpose of the Book

Projects With a Purpose seeks to accomplish three things:
1- Place God’s Glory at the center of every project and ministry.
2- Build projects and ministries that steward the resources and the gifts of a church and Christian organization in the best possible way.
3- Build projects and ministries that can reached their intended goals with maximum effectiveness.

About the Book

Projects With a Purpose is for…

The book is written for three different types of readers:
1. Church leaders who are seeking to improve the methods and frameworks for managing current projects as well as methods of developing new ones.
2. Team leaders who are looking to lead better projects, organized a better team, train team members, and ultimately create a healthier God glorifying project.

3. Church members
who would like to take an idea from a concept to an actionalbe project.
Taking an idea from a concept to an actionable project has enough intrinsic challenges of its own without adding a project plan that is poorly contrived. Unfortunately, many projects in churches and in Christian organizations today end up falling into common project pitfalls that are avoidable.

Some Questions????

How do you plan a project? How well are projects currently organized and executed in churches? How healthy are typical Christian projects? Why do so many good ideas and good intentions end before they ever get started? How does someone develop an idea into something that is actionable? Can zeal replace good project planning? What is the definition of a successful project? How do outsiders view healthy projects in a church or Christian organization? Does good project management in a Church matter?

Some Answers…

Projects With a Purpose looks at a method for building healthy projects and ministries by providing a working project management framework. The framework has been developed based on a study of healthy and successful projects found in Churches and Christian organizations and the framework is presented in a simple and straight forward method. I am hoping that by using this framework people are encouraged to build healthy projects and ultimately projects that glorify God.

The Context of the Book

In writing this book it quickly became apparent that defining the context of the book would be critical for readers to best understand the material presented. The link below expounds on this subject.
View the Critical Context of Projects With a Purpose

Resources In the ChurchResources in a Church or Christian organization are often very scarce. Between time, money, and people there is very little room for wasted effort and wasted resources. Because of this, managing a project or ministry in the best way is not just a luxery but a necessity. My experience and research while writing Projects With a Purpose revealed that Churches and Christian organizations are filled with many enthusiastic people with GREAT ideas but these same people often fail to create an actionable manageable plan around their ideas. The results of this disconnection from an idea to an actionable plan leads to ministries and projects that suffer and often never reach their intended goals.

Defining the words

Words mean things… but not everyones definition is the same. So in an attempt to clarify what I am writing in Projects With a Purpose and on projectswithapurpose.com I have provided a list (growing list) of words and phrases that are either prominantly used in the book/website, sparked questions over their meanings, or are just plain important. You might also be helped to look at the Project Examples link to see some examples of projects defined in the context of this book.
